Junk Removal Environmental and Disposal Policy

Last Updated: March 15, 2025

This Junk Removal Environmental and Disposal Policy is published by Muvr Technologies, Inc. and its affiliates (“Muvr,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) and applies to junk removal and hauling services arranged through our websites, mobile applications, and related services (the “Platform”) (collectively, “Junk Removal Services”).

This policy sets rules for lawful disposal, recycling, donation, environmental compliance, prohibited items, and customer and Provider responsibilities. It exists to reduce environmental harm, prevent illegal dumping, and support compliance with local, state, and federal laws. This policy supplements our Hauler Addendum, Restricted and Prohibited Items Policy, Infestation and Biohazard Policy, Safety Requirements for On Site Conditions Policy, Fee and Pricing Policy, No Show and Inaccessible Job Policy, Incident Reporting Policy, and Claims Process and Evidence Standards.

Laws vary by jurisdiction. You are responsible for complying with all applicable laws. Where local law is stricter than this policy, local law controls.

1) Core principles

  • Junk must be disposed of lawfully. Illegal dumping is strictly prohibited.
  • Many junk categories are regulated and require special handling and fees.
  • Providers may refuse, pause, or stop service when prohibited or hazardous items are present.
  • Customers must accurately disclose junk type, volume, and regulated categories.

2) Definitions

  • Junk: Items presented for removal, hauling, recycling, donation, or disposal.
  • Regulated waste: Items requiring special handling or disposal under environmental or safety laws (e-waste, batteries, paint, chemicals, appliances, tires, mattresses).
  • Facility: Landfill, transfer station, recycling center, donation center, or other authorized processing location.
  • Illegal dumping: Disposal in any unauthorized location, including roadside dumping, vacant lots, unauthorized dumpsters, or disposal that violates law or facility rules.

3) Prohibited items (not accepted)

Junk Removal Services may not be used to remove or dispose of:

  • firearms, ammunition, explosives
  • illegal drugs and controlled substances
  • hazardous chemicals, unknown liquids, industrial chemicals
  • fuels (gasoline/diesel), propane tanks with contents
  • biohazards, medical waste, sharps/needles, bodily fluids, feces/urine-soaked items
  • asbestos-containing materials or lead waste where regulated and not permitted
  • radioactive materials
  • human remains or biological specimens
  • items illegal to possess or dispose of

If prohibited items are discovered, Providers may initiate a Safety Stop, refuse service, and contact Support and/or authorities where required or appropriate.

4) Regulated categories (special handling + fees may apply)

Certain categories often require special disposal fees, sorting, or facility restrictions. Examples include:

  • appliances (fridges, freezers, AC units) including refrigerant handling rules
  • e-waste (TVs, monitors, computers, printers)
  • batteries (lithium, car batteries)
  • paint, solvents, chemicals
  • tires
  • mattresses and box springs
  • construction and demolition debris (may be restricted by facility rules)
  • yard waste (may require separate processing)
  • scrap metal (often routed to recycling)

You must disclose regulated categories before pickup. Failure to disclose may result in added fees, delays, or refusal.

5) Customer obligations (required)

Customers must:

  • accurately describe junk volume and type (photos may be required)
  • disclose regulated categories and any known hazards
  • separate “do not remove” items from removal areas
  • ensure access is safe and lawful (clear path, legal loading area)
  • not mix prohibited items into junk piles
  • provide any required building permissions and access

Once items are loaded, they may be mixed, compacted, and transported quickly; recovery is not guaranteed.

6) Provider obligations (required)

Providers must:

  • dispose of junk only at authorized facilities
  • comply with all local disposal, hauling, recycling, and transport laws
  • follow sorting requirements where applicable
  • use tarps, netting, and securement for open loads as required
  • prevent debris release and spills during transport
  • refuse prohibited items and initiate Safety Stops where needed
  • maintain disposal documentation where required (receipts, weight tickets) and never falsify proof

Providers must not engage in illegal dumping. Illegal dumping is a severe violation and may result in immediate deactivation and referral to authorities.

7) Disposal routing and no guarantee of donation/recycling

Where feasible, Providers may route items for:

  • recycling
  • donation
  • reuse

However:

  • donation acceptance depends on donation center policies and item condition
  • recycling acceptance depends on facility rules and contamination
  • we do not guarantee that any specific item will be donated or recycled

Facilities may reject items, in which case lawful alternative disposal may be required.

8) Environmental contamination and spill response

If a spill, leak, or hazardous exposure occurs:

  • Providers must stop work and prevent further spread when safe
  • contact Support promptly
  • follow the Incident Reporting Policy
  • contact emergency services where required
  • document the incident where safe and lawful

Customers may be responsible for site remediation if the hazard originates from customer-provided waste, to the extent permitted by law and agreement.

9) Fees, adjustments, and misrepresentation

Junk pricing depends on volume, weight, access, and regulated categories.

Additional fees may apply for:

  • regulated disposal fees
  • added volume beyond what was booked
  • special handling requirements
  • additional labor due to access constraints
  • return trips or delays caused by customer-controlled conditions

If junk volume or category is misrepresented, Providers may require scope updates or reschedule. If the job cannot proceed safely or lawfully due to customer-controlled conditions, it may be treated under No Show and Inaccessible Job Policy.

10) Disputes and evidence

Disputes are handled under the Complaint and Dispute Intake Policy and Claims Process and Evidence Standards. We may review:

  • photos of junk piles
  • booking scope vs actual load
  • disposal receipts/weight tickets
  • communications and Platform logs

False claims and abuse are prohibited.

11) Enforcement

Violations may result in:

  • cancellation or refusal of service
  • account restrictions or termination
  • provider deactivation
  • payout holds or offsets where permitted
  • referral to regulators or law enforcement where appropriate

Illegal dumping, hazardous waste handling violations, or falsified disposal proof may result in immediate deactivation.

12) Policy changes

We may update this policy at any time. Updates will be reflected by the “Last Updated” date above. Continued use of the Platform after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
